Child Safety Standards

Children learn with Sage every day. Protecting them is our first responsibility, and we have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation.

Zero tolerance for CSAE

Sage Owl Academy prohibits any content or behaviour that sexually exploits, abuses or endangers children, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sexualisation of minors, sextortion and trafficking. Any account involved in such activity is terminated, and the content is reported to the authorities as described below.

Safety by design

  • No contact between users. The app has no chat or messaging between users, no comments, no public profiles and no sharing of content with other users. Strangers cannot find or contact a child through Sage Owl Academy.
  • Adults hold the account. Children under 13 use the app only through a profile created and managed by a parent or guardian, and never give us contact details. Before a child’s profile works, an adult must sign in with their own account, create a parents’ PIN, read the consent screen and agree.
  • Private by default. Photos stay on the device and are not stored on our servers. Nothing a learner does is published.
  • Safe lessons. Sage is instructed to keep lessons suitable for the learner’s stage, to treat photos only as material to teach from and never to identify real people in them.
  • Safety checks. Requests and answers are checked by an automatic safety review with Claude before anyone sees them. Rules are stricter for children and teens, and any request that doesn’t state an age gets teen rules. Blocked content is replaced by a gentle message.
  • Help in distress. If a learner seems in distress, Sage stops and tells them to talk to a trusted adult, and shows a help line and a child protection line in Brazil, the US and the UK.
  • Safety records without the words. Our team sees a record with no words and nothing that identifies the learner: age group, category, task and date, kept for 90 days. On the family view, a parent sees how many conversations Sage stopped, never the words.

How to report a concern

Anyone, with or without an account, can report a concern about child safety:

  • In the app: use the report option in any lesson or answer.
  • By email: write to info@lexkurion.com with the subject “Child safety”. Describe what you saw and, if you can, when.

Child-safety reports are reviewed with the highest priority. If you believe a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police or emergency services first.

What we do with reports

We review every report, preserve the relevant information, remove the content and terminate the accounts involved where appropriate. When we become aware of apparent child sexual abuse material, we report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or to the competent authorities in the relevant country, and we cooperate with law-enforcement requests made under applicable law.

Compliance with child-safety laws

Sage Owl Academy aims to meet the child-safety laws that apply to it, including laws on reporting child sexual abuse material, children’s privacy laws such as COPPA, the GDPR and UK GDPR rules for children, and Brazil’s Statute of Children and Adolescents (ECA) and LGPD. We also follow the Google Play and Apple App Store policies on child safety.
