For parents and children

Sage is a warm teacher for the whole family. Here is how we keep children safe, and how you stay in control.

In short. You hold the account. Your child learns through a profile you create, with only a first name or nickname. There are no ads, no chat with other people and nothing public. Photos stay on your phone. You can see their lessons and progress, and report or delete anything.

How child profiles work

An adult installs the app and becomes the account holder. Before a child’s profile works, you must sign in with your own account (Apple, Google or Microsoft), create a 4-digit parents’ PIN, read the consent screen and agree. From the profile screen, you can add a profile for each person in the family and choose their stage (child, teen or adult), school year and the language Sage teaches in. Sage pitches every lesson to that stage: short sentences and concrete examples for younger children, more depth for teens and adults.

Each profile has its own topics, plan, review and rewards. The family view shows what each person studied, their progress and who needs a hand. Anyone 13 or older can also use the app as a guest; a guest’s studies stay on the device and aren’t in the cloud.

You stay in control

  • Children under 13 never create accounts. They do not sign in and never give us an email address. Only the account holder can sign in to back up progress.
  • The parents’ PIN. The PIN is mandatory while a child’s profile exists. It guards purchases, external links, sign-in, deleting data, adding or removing people, and leaving to an older profile. Five wrong tries lock it for one minute. A forgotten PIN is replaced only by signing in again with your account.
  • Purchases ask a grown-up first. On a child’s profile, the app asks for the parents’ PIN before any purchase. Subscriptions are bought and managed by the adult’s App Store or Google Play account.
  • You can see their learning. Open a child’s profile to see their topics, lessons and progress, edit the profile or delete it. The family view also shows how many conversations Sage stopped, never the words.
  • You set the time. A child’s profile has a daily limit, one hour by default. You can change it behind the PIN, including to no limit, and add 15 minutes when time runs out. Rewards in Focus mode on a child’s profile are for finishing, not per minute.
  • Permissions are yours. The microphone is used only when your child taps to speak, and notifications, including the daily reminder, stay off unless you turn them on; both can be switched off in your phone’s settings.

Data minimisation

A child’s profile needs only a first name or nickname, a stage, a school year and a language. We never ask for a child’s full name, birth date, email, phone number or location. Photos stay on your device: an image is sent only to build the lesson and is not stored on our servers. You are told about Anthropic and asked to agree before your child uses lessons. Anthropic receives your child’s words, photos, files or links, plus stage, school year, country and language; never the name, never notes and never the exact age. Metadata such as location is removed from photos on the device before they are sent. Lessons, progress and your child’s chat messages live on the phone and, once you sign in, in your private cloud backup. Sage keeps no notes about a child. Analytics and crash reports are off while a child’s profile is open; some automatic events can happen before the app knows which profile is open. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

No ads, no tracking, nothing social

  • No advertising, no advertising SDKs and no advertising identifiers.
  • No tracking across other apps or websites, and we never sell personal information.
  • No public profiles, no chat between users, no sharing of photos with other people. Strangers cannot contact your child through the app.

AI safety

Sage writes lessons with AI. We designed her to be a teacher, not a chatbot for anything:

  • Sage is instructed to keep every lesson suitable for the learner’s stage and school year.
  • Photos and text are treated only as material to teach from. Sage is instructed never to identify real people in photos and never to guess sensitive traits.
  • Our AI provider processes requests under terms that do not allow it to train its models on them.
  • Requests and answers are checked by an automatic safety review with Claude before anyone sees them. Rules are stricter for children and teens, and any request that doesn’t state an age gets teen rules. Blocked content is replaced by a gentle message.
  • If a learner seems in distress, Sage stops and tells them to talk to a trusted adult, and shows a help line and a child protection line in Brazil, the US and the UK.
  • Our team sees a safety record with no words and nothing that identifies the learner: age group, category, task and date, kept for 90 days. On the family view, you see how many conversations Sage stopped, never the words.
  • AI can still make mistakes. Encourage your child to tell you when something seems odd, and report it.

How to report content

Inside any lesson, use the report option to tell us that something is wrong or inappropriate. The report reaches us with the reason, the learner’s note, the lesson title, mode, stage, locale, platform and app identifier, but not the lesson text, so we can review it quickly in our internal console and improve Sage. You can also write to info@lexkurion.com at any time. Anything that could involve the safety of a child is treated with the highest priority; see our Child Safety Standards.

Reviewing and deleting your child’s data

Remove a single profile from the family view (Remove person), or delete the whole account from your profile (Delete my account); both remove the data from the phone and from the cloud backup, and on a child’s profile both ask for the parents’ PIN. You can also email info@lexkurion.com to ask what we hold about your child, to have it deleted or to stop further processing. See how to delete your account.

Children’s privacy laws

We aim to meet the requirements of the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the GDPR and UK GDPR rules for children, Brazil’s LGPD and Statute of Children and Adolescents, and similar laws, by keeping an adult in control of the account, collecting only what lessons need and using children’s information only to provide the service. If you believe your child gave us information without your involvement, contact us and we will delete it.
